Some awaken. Others keep playing.

Dreamers is a physical theatre performance exploring the invisible systems that shape human behaviour, identity, and freedom.

Inspired by motifs from Neal Shusterman’s Scythe, the work does not retell the novel but uses its philosophical questions as a starting point for an original theatrical language. The performance examines how rules become habits, habits become beliefs, and beliefs gradually define the limits of human freedom.

Set within a surreal playground suspended between childhood and adulthood, order and chaos, the performers inhabit a world built on repetition. The game continues because it feels familiar. Safe. Necessary.

Until one body begins to awaken.

Through physical theatre, movement, and visual imagery, Dreamers explores the fragile moment when awareness disrupts routine, revealing that liberation begins not with rebellion, but with the courage to perceive reality differently.

Concept

Every system begins as an agreement.
Over time, agreements become rules.
Rules become rituals.
Rituals become truths.

People continue to play because the game offers certainty.
The rules are familiar.
The movements are repeated.
No one asks who created them.

Until someone stops.
Not to destroy the game.
But to see it.

In Dreamers, awakening is not an act of resistance.
It is an act of perception.

The body remembers what the mind has forgotten.
Movement becomes the first language of freedom.

The performance asks a single question:
What remains when we step outside the rules we have always believed to be real?
